Whether you've ever given it much thought or not, silence is a huge part of music and music production. Adding in silence is a great way to punctuate a melody, chord progression, or even a section of your song.

Think about almost every Future Bass drop ever. The chords and bass are usually chopped up so there is a lot of space for the drums and other elements in the mix to breathe.

I've been meaning to make this video for a while now, because I remember the first time I transitioned into a drop with silence instead of a huge drum fill. It was a complete accident, I left a group of tracks muted. BUT, it changed the way I looked at transitions. It gave me another tool to use.
